A Message From The River Nut

Experiences mean so much more when they are shared among friends. That's why I'd love to share my river experiences with you. And once you come aboard, you'll understand why I feel the way I do about the rivers, the cities and the people I've encountered through my years of working on America's waterways.

My friends find these stories so fascinating that they've urged me to write a book. Hmmm... maybe they don't know me that well. I couldn't sit still long enough to write a book. There's still so much more to see and do. And besides, putting everything into words would be very difficult, if not impossible. When you have river experiences of your own to tell about, you'll see what I mean. It isn't easy to describe hundreds of years of history, thousands of lives and millions of stories in words.

That's why I founded RiverBarge Excursion Lines. I felt that sharing the experience on America's waterways would be better than reading about it. And there's plenty to experience. Sometimes it's better just to learn through quiet observation; learning through osmosis, I call it. But conversations with people who live and work along the rivers have taught me so much, not only about life on the river, but about life itself. I've learned that a river is a perfect metaphor for life. More about that later...

Learning to "read" a river isnt difficult...it just takes time. It's the same as learning about history and geography. Or learning about the songs we sing and the foods we eat. If you don't come away from a RiverBarge Excursion with a better understanding of America, and quite possibly, a better understanding of yourself and your place in this world, we'll have failed as hosts. That's why we've painstakingly made every effort to make this more than a vacation. A RiverBarge Excursion is an EXPERIENCE. Youšll see America, and yourself, in a whole new light. And have more fun than you ever imagined.

A final note to my friends: while I'm glad all of you have enjoyed my stories, there'll be no book. But I do invite you to be my guest and join us on board the R/B River Explorer for the sharing of a voyage to adventure. And for the experience of a lifetime.
